    Position Summary

    The Partnerships Manager, Plants for Birds will be responsible for identifying, developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with a a wide variety of NGO, governmental, for-profit, and academic partners with the goal of expanding the use and availability of native plants to benefit birds and communities nationwide. They will serve as a vital resource to Audubon's network of centers, state offices and chapters in developing similar partnerships at the local level.  The Partnerships Manager will also work closely with Audubon's Marketing team to deliver a good experience for corporate partners.
     
    The Program Manager, Plants for Birds will report to the Director of Community Conservation and is a key member of Audubon’s Bird-Friendly Communities team, contributing to our vision of a future for thriving communities, healthy ecosystems, and abundant bird populations.

    Essential Functions

    • Develop and manage partnerships with a wide variety of NGO, governmental, for-profit, and academic partners to advance the use and availability of native plants, in partnership with Audubon’s Marketing department and other key teams, staff.
    • Develop resources, training tools, and materials for partners and communities.
    • Equip Audubon’s staff and network of chapters and volunteers through training, materials, and consultation to achieve success in their states and communities with their local work.
    • In collaboration with the Director of Community Conservation, oversee the growth and expansion of Audubon’s Coleman and Susan Burke Center for Native Plants.
    • Work with the Director to develop and manage grant programs that support native plant activities, as well as with evaluation tools to measure program impacts.
    • Assemble, synthesize and incorporate community feedback to continually improve resources and programmatic approaches.
    • Collaborate with Audubon’s communications teams to produce content that promotes Plants for Birds across all Audubon print and digital platforms.
    • Research, write, edit and format presentations, reports, and other documents.
    • Deliver presentations to internal and external audiences about the program, including local, regional and national media.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of successful experience in conservation outreach, partnership development, or program management required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
    • Experience building partnerships with retail organizations and municipalities required.
    • Experience working with coalitions that are diverse in race and ethnicity, politics, and religion required.
    • Effective interpersonal skills, including customer service, with the ability to build consensus among a wide range of individuals.
    • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to synthesize and communicate technical and complex information for non-technical audiences.
    • Demonstrated public speaking experience, including presenting complex information in an engaging manner for diverse audiences.
    • Must be extremely organized and able to multi-task, with particular attention to meeting deadlines and maintaining complete and accurate documentation.
    • Experience and ability managing multiple projects through to success, including meeting financial goals, project deadlines, and coordinating the work of key staff and partners.
    • A self-starter, one who is motivated, able to work in a decentralized work environment with minimal supervision, and juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Tech-savvy individual, one who has proficiency with MS Office applications and is comfortable working in a variety of web-based databases and platforms. Experience with Drupal content management system and/or database management preferred.
    • Spanish-language fluency (written and spoken) highly desired, as well as experience managing or helping to administer grants.
