The Development Assistant will play an important role in Audubon’s development program in the Atlantic Flyway and across the Network. This position will report to the National Audubon Society’s Development Manager (Atlantic Flyway) and will work closely with national and regional development staff. This is a full-time position.

• Provide administrative support, including scheduling travel, arranging meetings, processing expense reimbursements, and submitting external invoices for the VP for Development, Atlantic Flyway
• Prepare development reports for Atlantic Flyway field offices, supporting the VP for Development
• Provide administrative support (prospect research, list management, reporting, meeting materials preparation, records maintenance) for fundraising and stewardship activities related to the following cost centers:
  • Audubon Vermont
  • Seabirds Institute
  • Audubon Events and Engagement Programs
• Support donor outreach as directed by the Audubon Vermont, Seabirds Institute, and the Events and Engagement Programs teams
• Staff workshops and cultivation events, order catering for onsite meetings, and collaborate with other development associates and assistants as needed
• Serve as a member of the development administrative team, working closely with the Senior Manager, Development Leadership on projects and tasks as assigned, including:
  • Coordination of the monthly national development team meeting
  • Staffing workshops and events/engagement programs as required
  • Ordering catering for on and offsite meetings
  • Collaborating with other development associates and assistants as needed and required
• Serve as an extension of the Events and Engagement Programs team, providing administrative support for the implementation of fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship events and programs throughout the Atlantic Flyway and across the network
• Provide on- and off-site support for national board meetings as required
• Coordinate and assist with timely communication about and acknowledgement of gifts (both formally and informally) made by managed donors across the Atlantic Flyway as well as gifts made in support of the various cost centers within the Flyway
• As required and directed, work with the team to help implement distribution of electronic and paper communications on behalf of cost centers throughout the Atlantic Flyway; this may include:
  • Reviewing distribution lists for exclusion/inclusion
  • Coordinating distribution of materials from the central development communications team that can be repurposes for state/center level outreach
  • Supporting the drafting and design process for local content
  • Identifying and creating lists for various forms of distribution
  • Providing reports on effectiveness of outreach/appeals
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum 3+ years of work experience in a professional setting; nonprofit development experience preferred but not required.  
• Proficient in Microsoft Office as well as Salesforce.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as a strong ability to edit and proofread documents.
• Detail-oriented approach to work with strong organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidential information with discretion and integrity.
• A self-starter, who is able to prioritize and complete work with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
• Professional, personable, and efficient approach to all aspects of position; must be a team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• A flexible approach to work with the willingness work some evenings, if needed.
• Interest in development, conservation and the mission of the National Audubon Society.
