Position Summary

The Grange Insurance Audubon Center is a sanctuary for birds and nature lovers set in parkland created from a former industrial site in the heart of downtown Columbus, along the Scioto River.  The LEED-Certified 18,000 sq. ft. building is surrounded by a 120-acre metro park, which brings visitors from the community and beyond for onsite education programs, as well as for special public and private events.  


We are seeking an energetic and qualified candidate to oversee special events (primarily weddings) at the Grange Insurance Audubon Center.  This role will work closely with guests and vendors to ensure a positive experience and that guests are good stewards of the 18,000 sq ft. LEED-Certified building. The Events and Front Desk Attendant will also be responsible for promoting our mission and membership to attendees and visitors.


This part-time position requires someone to work days, evenings and weekend hours when needed. 

Essential Functions

  • Perform initial walk throughs to make sure the facility is prepped for rentals
  • Greet and guide vendors and guests during set up
  • Data entry for daily attendance software
  • Keep all AV equipment labeled and inventoried
  • Connect with caterer captain before guests arrive
  • Assist guests with questions during events
  • Walk inside and outside the center to check on restrooms, trash, and guests
  • Complete end of event checklist and daily center report
  • Assist with special projects 
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • High School degree or equivalent preferred, experience will be considered in lieu of education.
  • One to three years customer service or related experience.
  • A self-starter, one who is a problem solver, resourceful and is comfortable working independently, at times. Must be friendly, energetic and have an empathic personality.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks through use of effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and a positive work ethic; experience working with external groups highly preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekday and weekend morning and evening hours (beyond midnight).
  • Ideally passionate about nature and conservation.
  • Ability to patrol the property repeatedly and lift objects (50-80 pounds) with or without accommodation.
