Position Summary

The Weekend Center Assistant will provide support for weekend activities at the Audubon Center at the Riverlands location. The Center Director or Education Manager may assign additional administrative tasks when needed.

 

Essential Functions

  • Greet and interact with the general public.
  • Interpret the Riverlands Migratory Bird Sanctuary.
  • Can communicate trail map details with clear directions, and provide viewing information for local birds and wildlife.
  • Provide detailed information about scheduled programs and activities for the center.
  • Ability to respond and navigate telephone and in-person inquires to appropriate team members when needed.
  • Process all of the Nature Store's cash and credit card transactions by following a guided procedure.
  • Provide program and administrative support as instructed.
  • Responsible for opening and closing the center per operation scheduled procedure.
  • Can demonstrate and follow approved safety protocols for the Audubon Center at the Riverlands to ensure that guests, volunteers, and staff are safe.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • This is exclusively a weekend position, working weekend hours is required. 
  • High school diploma or general equivalent education desired.
  • 1 + years experience in customer-service or public-facing position preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to positively interact with a variety of people and remain composed under pressure.
  • Proficient in English communication orally and written.
  • Familiarity with MS Outlook, Word, and Excel, with experience operating Square Point of Sales.
  • Positive attitude, professional work ethic, and punctuality.
  • Experience working at a nature center, museum, or similar facility a plus.
  • Possesses knowledge and passion for birds, wildlife and nature.
