Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Digital Platforms, the Digital Platforms Data Manager will provide industry-leading technical support, systems administration, and training to support Audubon’s EveryAction/VAN users. The person in this role will help Audubon’s educators, volunteer coordinators, grassroots organizers, and Audubon Center directors engage local communities across the country with beautifully templated emails, intelligent segmentation and automation, and accessible online interfaces, in collaboration with Audubon’s national marketing, advocacy, and fundraising teams.

Essential Functions

Platform Administration and Support:

  • Act as overall administrator of Audubon’s mass email and advocacy platform, including performing ongoing upkeep of email subscription, contact segmentation, marketing automation, templates, and Audubon’s systems of EveryAction/VAN committees and codes for tracking engagement and ensuring proper financial attribution.
  • Administer Audubon’s digital support ticketing system in Jira, routing requests as needed to other teams, and providing digital platform support and troubleshooting for Audubon’s digital platforms.
  • Identify and articulate the digital needs of Audubon's local communicators to elevate their voices in decisions of tech development and investment.
  • Track support metrics (resolution time, volume, and request type, etc.) identifying areas for improvement when possible.
  • Oversee EveryAction/VAN user profiles and activity to ensure appropriate permission sets and compliance with Audubon’s security protocols.
  • Assist in the maintenance of Audubon’s EveryAction contact database.
  • Strengthen the culture of data and technology throughout the organization through strong user engagement, accurate data, analytics, and reporting.
  • Assist with quality assurance (QA)for new platform features and other special projects as needed.

Onboarding and Training:

  • Onboard new employees working in digital production and communications, introducing them to Audubon’s digital platforms and the people who use them.
  • Create/maintain multimedia self-service training programs to guide local communicators through the established uses of Audubon’s digital engagement platforms, with a focus on maximizing accessibility.
  • Establish and clearly communicate the procedures for digital production onboarding and training in a way that includes and collaborates with local and regional teams.
  • Maintain Audubon’s digital communications and engagement documentation on Confluence to ensure alignment with up-to-date platform features and procedures.
  • Create a scalable framework for evaluating digital communications performance to ensure training is allowing local communicators to meet Audubon’s goals.
  • Create automated post-training surveys to solicit feedback on the effectiveness of established trainings and identify new needs for digital communications.

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least 5-7 years of work experience, with at least 5 years of experience with digital production support and/or enterprise marketing systems administration.
  • At least 1 year of experience using the EveryAction/VAN suite of digital tools.
  • Demonstrated experience training and/or providing support in digital production and communications to people with a broad spectrum of digital skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with a focus on finding efficient solutions to workflow problems.
  • A passion for working in a diverse work environment, and a commitment to equity, inclusivity, and accessibility in training and support.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript for managing web form and email templates preferred.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based file systems and project management software preferred.
  • Experience with grassroots issue advocacy or political campaigns a plus.
  • Experience with Confluence, Jira, and/or Salesforce a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
